When is the best time to get married in Coromandel?
Coromandel weddings are definitely a summer staple.
Late January, February & March are always the months that book out first. The warm sunny days and long evening daylight hours are perfect for making the most of all the amazing outdoor spaces on offer. Picture a morning surf, a relaxed afternoon ceremony and then golden afternoon light streaming into your marquee as you enjoy champagne, canapees and cracking up with friends on a stunning beach or with a remote clifftop view.
If you don’t mind an earlier sunset April & May are stunning months to get hitched in the Coromandel. It’s still pretty warm and the accommodation options are plentiful. Plus that soft autumn light is truly to die for.
Most Coromandel venues are geared towards setting up a marquee and enjoying the outdoor surroundings so the winter months can be tricky but not impossible. Perfect months for smaller, intimate elopements. Think Cathedral Cove at sunrise or a cabin in the woods at The Falls Retreat.
Orua Beach House & Sea Grotto
Orua Beach House and Orua Sea Grotto are two of the top Coromandel wedding venues. They both offer stunning clifftop views with so many opportunities for out of this world photo spots.
Orua Beach House is a super wedding celebration weekend with 4 nights accommodation for 10 people either side of your special day. Great for relaxing pre & post wedding and experiencing the full magic of the location. The main ceremony spot on the point is quintessential Coromandel, looking out over hot water beach.
Orua Sea Grotto is home to another epic view point, lined with pines, and boasting dramatic white cliffs and tropical blue waters. Both sites are booked independently and all couples have use of the whole farm for amazing photo locations. The venue also hire out their 4×4 off road buggy to access some of the more remote spots.

Mercury Ridge
Mercury Ridge is situated in pride of place on the hillside overlooking Cooks Beach. It’s modern Mediterranean villa is a stunning centerpiece and has a very luxury European holiday destination vibe. Wedding bookings give you access to the entire villa and accommodation for 10 people for two nights. This means everyone can get ready in the same space and makes for a very easy flowing wedding day. The dinning space can host a sit down dinner for up to 20 guests and bigger celebrations can have a marquee set up above the villa.
Jo & Tom are wonderful hosts and will work with you to create the experience that suits your day the best. With indoor and outdoor ceremony options, it’s one of Coromandel’s best and easiest venues. The courtyard and olive grove are personal favs and the beach is only 5 mins away for a frolic in the sand and some epic photos 😉
The Dunes
The Dunes is Matarangi’s premier wedding venue, set on a beautiful golf course lined with stunning pine trees right next to the beach. They have three unique options for ceremony spots from outdoor to indoors next to the fireplace. The amazing beach front wedding platform at the end of hole two offers the ultimate in Coromandel beach wedding vibes. There are so many options for fun photo spots on the beach, in the pines or even hooning around on the golf carts.
The amazing team at The Dunes will work with you to choose the perfect catering options for your day ranging from canapes, buffets to a table banquet or gourmet BBQ. They also run a fully licensed bar with bar and wait staff included in your fee. Such a bonus.
