South Sea Vagabond
Opua, New Zealand – Port Vila, Vanuatu July 2016
Sailing a 60ft Catamaran through the South Pacific Ocean for seven days straight with three wonderfully vivacious vagabond adventurers to end up in the warm arms of a tropical island in the middle of New Zealand winter…………. don’t mind if I do!!
And I did. And here are some snaps from moments I had my hands free and my euphoria in check enough to hold a camera steady. Being at sea is a dream for both the eyes and the soul. I had a feeling I would love it but I didn’t know it would get under my skin the way it did. Constantly mesmerised by the way our craft moved though the world with the wind, giving day to day life at sea a gloriously addictive momentum. Sunsets across 360º horizons, wheelhouse crew hangs, weather watching, sail changes, albatross flybys, fish landings, ‘no.8 wire’ repair jobs, night watch stargazing, sextant navigation trials, cups of tea at sunrise and of course a whole lot of increadibly vast and forever undulating open ocean. As per always I have over indulged on my shutter count so this is the first of two parts. Happy scrolling!
Josh’s dad. Thanks for sharing. Frigging jealous!
